The Municipio of San Antonio de los Baños is one of the twenty six municipios in the province of Havana, Cuba. It is located at the extreme west, toward the center of the province. This municipio covers a surface of 244 square kilometers. To the west it borders with the province of Pinar del Río; to the north with Caimito de Guayabal and Bauta; to the east with Bejucal and La Salud; and to the south with Güira de Melena y Alquizar. |
Note: A “municipio” (plural: municipios) is the first political division of the provinces in Cuba. It is similar, in many ways, to the county or parish in which a state is divided in the United States. |
Population: The population of this municipio in 1953 was 28,920 persons. |

The barrios of San Antonio de los Baños in 1943 were: Número Uno, Número Dos, Número Tres, Número Cuatro, Ceiba del Agua, Norte, Sur and Vereda Nueva. |
Número Uno: (Number One) The seat of this barrio is located seven and a half km from the city of San Antonio de los Baños. Was called Govea y Valle. Includes the town of Govea, located at the extreme northwest of the Municipio and next to the river Govea. It was a prosperous town until 1770, when the tobacco growers started migrating to Vuelta Abajo. During its days of splendor, it reached a population that surpased 100 residents, but by 1858 its population decreased to 28 persons. |
Número Dos: (Number Two) The seat of this barrio is located five km from the city of San Antonio de los Baños. Was called Chícharo, Santa Rosa y Parte del Valle. |
Número Tres: (Number Three) The seat of this barrio is located three and a half km from the city of San Antonio de los Baños. Was called Armonía y Quintana. |
Número Cuatro: (Number Four) The seat of this barrio is located two and a half km from the city of San Antonio de los Baños. Was called Seborucal y Monjas. On this barrio is the Mantilla hill, which is the highest elevation in the Municipio. |
Ceiba del Agua: Includes the town of Ceiba del Agua. From 1879 to 1901 was Partido, called San Luis de la Ceiba. |
Norte: (North) Urban zone of the city of San Antonio de los Baños. |
Sur: (South) Urban zone of the city of San Antonio de los Baños. |
Vereda Nueva: From 1879 to 1901 was Partido of second class. Includes the town of Vereda Nueva. |

Ceiba del Agua: Town in the Municipio in the barrio of its name. It is located three km from San Antonio de los Baños. Was founded in 1763 under the name of San Cristóbal del Buen Suceso, which was the name of the hacienda originally there. It was seat of the Partido of San Luis de la Ceiba with a parroquial church and under Guanajay. |

San Antonio de los Baños: Seat of the Municipio. |
Vereda Nueva: Town in the Municipio in the barrio of its name. It is located nine km from San Antonio de los Baños. Founded in 1802, its church was auxiliary to the one from San Antonio de los Baños. The population in this town increased fast. In 1827 it had 124 houses, of which 13 were made out of concrete. In 1846 the population was 596 persons, icreasing to 1,525 in 1862 with 280 homes. In 1879 was made seat of its own Partido, but in 1901 it was supressed and annexed to San Antonio de los Baños. |
